Peter Aykroyd is dead:'SNL' writer and actor is 66-Variety Show

Peter Aykroyd (Peter Aykroyd), the former actor and screenwriter of "Saturday Night Live", Dan Aykroyd's brother, has passed away. He is 66 years old. The cause of death has not yet been announced.

The news of Aykroyd's death was announced on Saturday during the "Saturday Night Live" program hosted by Simu Liu. The show pays tribute to the late manga in the form of a short film titled "Java Junkie" starring him. The black imitation portrays Aykroyd as a carriage character who dashes through the town to satisfy his coffee addiction. The short film ends with a title card that pays tribute to Aykroyd.

On Monday, Dan Aykroyd paid tribute to his brother, calling him "talented, creative, funny and open-minded."

Peter Aykroyd was born on November 19, 1955 and grew up in Ottawa, Canada with his brother Dan Aykroyd. After starring in "The New Avengers" and "SCTV", he joined the Second City Comedy Company in Toronto and started his comedy career.

Aykroyd joined "Saturday Night Live" in 1979 as a writer and guest actor. During his one-year tenure on the show, he received a co-nomination for an Emmy Award in the category of outstanding writing in variety or music shows.

Aykroyd continued to work with his brother throughout his career, playing important roles in the movies "Coneheads" and "Spies Like Us". Peter and Dan also co-wrote the 1991 comedy "Nothing Good". He also served as a voice-over role in the "The Blues Brothers" animation series with Jim Belushi. The two played the roles of their brothers Dan and John in "Saturday Night Live" and the 1980 comedy film.

In the late 1990s, Peter Aykroyd co-created the series "PSI Factor: The Supernatural Chronicles" with Christopher Chacon, a Canadian science fiction show hosted by his brother Dan. The series lasted for four seasons.
