After being teased during the 2022 Yamaha TMax 560 launch, the 2022 Yamaha MT-09 is now officially launched in Malaysia with a suggested retail price of RM54,998, excluding road tax, insurance and registration. Starting from November 11th, 2022 MT-09 inventory will arrive at the showroom of authorized Hong Leong Yamaha auto dealers.
The price of MYR 58,98 was significantly higher than the price of MYR 47,388 of Yamaha MT-09 in 2018, and the price increased by MYR 7,610. The price increase can be attributed to the current supply chain issues affecting global automobile production and the unpredictable currency exchange.
For the 2022 MT-09, the new die-cast aluminum frame is 2.3 kg lighter than before, reducing the weight of the vehicle from 193 kg to 189 kg, full of fuel. The weight of the subframe (1.5 kg lighter), engine (1.7 kg lighter) and exhaust system (1.4 kg lighter) has been reduced even more.
The familiar Crossplane 3 inline-triple is installed in the MT-09 and conforms to the nomad Euro 5 standard. The displacement has been increased from the previous 847 cc to 889 cc. Yamaha claims that the 2022 MT-09 produces 117.3 hp at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, which is an increase from the 115 hp and 87.5 Nm of the upcoming MT-09.
For the power transmission system on the MT-09, power is transmitted through a six-speed gearbox and auxiliary and slip clutches with chain final drives. The exhaust system is a lower abdomen unit. Compared with the previous short-side outlet unit, the MT-09 has a neater appearance.
In the cockpit, a 3.5-inch full-color TFT-LCD screen, including a variable color bar graph tachometer and all other necessary information, replaces the previous-generation monochrome LCD unit. A single projector LED is used as a headlight, converted from a dual LED unit, supplemented by LED DRL.
2022 MT-09 has undergone a major upgrade to the suspension. It is now equipped with an adjustable inverted front fork with a diameter of 41 mm, and the adjustable single shock absorber has modified settings and improved linkages to improve suspension performance. The wheels are forged alloys, the overall weight is reduced by 700 grams, and the moment of inertia of the rear wheels is reduced by 11%, making the wheels spin faster.
The brake has a similar upgrade. The radial master cylinder activates dual radially mounted brake calipers, clamping a 298 mm brake disc in the front. The 2022 MT-09 is slightly higher than the previous unit, and the seat height is set to 825 mm.
For Malaysia, 2022 Yamaha MT-09 has two color options-Icon Blue and Storm Fluo. The first 300 MT-09s purchased will come with a personalized Big Bike key bag from Royal Selangor, and each MT-09 will receive a free security disk lock.
I will definitely change the headlights to xsr900. Looks better imho.
