Order books for the 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale Hybrid have just been opened in Australia.

Priced from AU$49,900 ($32,312), Aussie customers will be able to order the Tonale Hybrid in either Ti or Veloce trims, both of which will arrive in dealerships from February 2023. The Tonale Plug-In Hybrid will join the range in late 2023.

Powering the Tonale Hybrid is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 48-volt battery. It produces a combined 118 kW (158 hp) at 5,750 rpm and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque at 1,500 rpm. The engine sips 5.6 liters of fuel per 100 km and the SUV can operate on electric power alone at low speeds and while parking.

The entry-level Tonale Hybrid Ti comes loaded with standard features. These include automatic full LED Matrix headlights with Adaptive Driving Beam, 18-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels, black wing mirrors with a painted Italian flag, and a body-colored rear spoiler and door handles. Found in the cabin are carbon cloth and leatherette seats with Beige stitching, a leather steering wheel, black headliner, front and rear floor mats, and aluminum pedals. Other features include a 10.25-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio, six speakers, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a wireless charging pad.

Key safety features of the Tonale Hybrid Ti include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, High Beam Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Driver drowsy detection, six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, traffic sign recognition with Intelligent Speed Assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The current flagship is the Tonale Hybrid Veloce, priced from AU$56,400 ($36,521). It adds a handful of unique exterior elements, including 19-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels, privacy glass, and red Brembo brake calipers. Found in the cabin are perforated black Alcantara and leatherette seats with red stitching, additional red stitching on the doors and center console, aluminum door sills, and aluminum paddle shifters. Added safety components include Level 2 Autonomous Driving with Traffic Jam Assist, side parking sensors, a 360-degree surround view camera, and blind spot detection with rear cross path. It also gets Active Dual-Stage Valve Suspension and auto-dimming mirrors.
