Friday’s hot air balloon launch in Erie is canceled because of the forecasted cold weather conditions. Saturday and Sunday are to be determined, according to officials with the Erie Chamber of Commerce.

The Erie Hot Air Balloon Festival, which occurs annually along with its town fair, is in question because of the forecast of snow this weekend. But the fair is still happening regardless of the weather, said Pat Vero, executive director of the Erie Chamber of Commerce.

The 36 pilots participating in the event may still choose to fly on Saturday, and if that day is canceled, they still have the option on Sunday, Vero said. Updates and and additional cancellations will be announced one day at a time, she said. Updates will be posted on the chamber’s website at bit.ly/3wroDMy and on its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ErieChamber.

The hot air balloons are scheduled to fly about 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday on the east side of Collier’s Hill, west of Erie High School on County Road 5 and Colliers Parkway. The Erie Town Fair is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 235 Wells St.
