Fantastic news for the die casting industry: To shorten the wait until EUROGUSS 2022 at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 8 to 10 June, we’ve organised a “digital appetizer” for you – the virtual EUROGUSS Studio Edition 2022. The participants can look forward to the announcement of the winners of the European Die Casting Award, an interesting panel discussion on issues currently affecting the industry, and a sneak preview of the results of the sustainability survey. It was conducted by EUROGUSS in partnership with Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg among all exhibitors. Attendance is free for all registered participants. Simultaneous interpretation in English will be provided for international participants.
“Following the postponement of EUROGUSS 2022 to June, we are pleased to have a little foretaste of the event on 18 January. After all, to launch the year without any EUROGUSS at all would be somewhat unusual for the entire industry,” stresses Christopher Boss, Director EUROGUSS at NürnbergMesse.
The compact programme will start at 14:30 with the announcement of the winners in the zinc category of the European Die Casting Award, which is organised by the VDD (Association of German Die Casting Foundries) and EUROGUSS. This will be followed by a discussion about the importance of the EUROGUSS Talent Award for the industry, the need to make the die casting industry more attractive to young recruits, and how this can be achieved. The answers to these questions will be provided by Franz-Josef Wöstmann, Chairman of the Jury of the EUROGUSS Talent Award and Head of the Foundry Technology and Lightweight Design Department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM), Dr Patrick Reichen, Team Leader Innovation at Bühler AG, and Frank Gensty, CTO at GF Casting Solutions. Following the announcement of the winners of the European Die Casting Award in the magnesium category, participants can look forward to the first results of the EUROGUSS sustainability survey. Conducted in partnership with Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, the survey provides an overview of the status of this critical issue in the die casting industry.
At the Industry’s Request: EUROGUSS Postponed until June 2022
There will then be a panel discussion focusing on topical issues in the sector such as the maintenance of supply chains, the challenges of rising energy prices for the die casting industry, and the challenges and opportunities presented by the progressive transformation of the drive train. The panellists are Hartmut Fischer, General Manager of STIHL Magnesium Die-Casting and President of the VDD (Association of German Die Casting Foundries), Dr Ioannis Ioannidis, CEO Oskar Frech GmbH & Co. KG, Chairman of VDMA Metallurgy and President of CEMAFON, and Thomas Reuther, member of the executive board of TRIMET Aluminium SE and Chairman of the Aluminium Recycling Association at Aluminium Deutschland e.V. Afterwards, the winners of the European Die Casting Award in the aluminium category will be announced. Subsequently, all participants can vote for their favourites from among the winners to determine the audience award.
